What is Interaction Design?
Interaction Designers make technology more meaningful, usable, and delightful. Interaction designers are the forefront of imagining the future by creating the next-wave mobile experiences, social networks, complex systems, products and services that pioneer new ways to work and play. Interaction Design takes place at the intersection between human experience and the built environment.
Undergraduate Program - BFA
Imagine studying interaction design in a creative and innovative community at one of the best art and design schools in the world.
We are literally positioned in a technology and design hub. As such, we provide our Interaction Design students with a rich academic environment -- and one that connects students to unique opportunities that foster their professional training.
Masters Program - MDes
CCA’s new Masters in Interaction Design program prepares students for the most in-demand design discipline. In an increasingly technology-rich world, opportunities abound for designers who can make technologies more meaningful, usable, and delightful.
CCA is committed to the idea that interaction design should have a positive impact on society. Our students learn to humanize technologies, and to address critical, complex challenges in innovative, socially conscious ways.
We are really happy to share with you that Kritika Kushwaha and Prabhav Jain, from the MDes IxD Program, along with their teammates Britt Jensen & Manpreet Kaur participated in Hack Mental Health #reversehackathon and won the Audience Choice Award and overall First place for designing digital tools to enable emotionally conscious digital communications.
There were 250+ participants and 35+ Teams at the event, and it was an incredible experience where they were able to apply all of their MDes learnings.
Featured Student Work
The core of our Masters program is the Social Lab, in which students address real problems with real stakeholders. We collaborate with community members to identify local social challenges; we seek a holistic understanding of those challenges and their root causes; and we engage community members as partners in the process of designing tools and systems to address those challenges.
